They are relocating the 2 floor legendary record store and they will sell marijuana on the side of record business.
In 2017 it was announced that there might be chance of Amoeba Music forced to relocate from its Hollywood spot as new building developments suggested that the shop would be demolished to make a 28-story building.
Currently the GPI Companies own the spot on Suset Blvd, where the record store is located and it was purchased by them back in October 2015 for $34 million. Apparently the company is in the need of cash, urgently.

According to the new proposal, which is not approved by the city yet, the demolition will start in mid-2019 to complete the building in 2021.
In his latest interview with Variety, Amoeba Music co-owner Marc Weinstein confirmed that the record retailer is moving from its iconic location and right now they are in the process of exploring three new locations around the same area. Also Weinstein told that they are seeking to get a marijuana dispensary license for the new location which is one of the most profitable industries in LA right now.
The announcement comes on the heels of the news that Amoeba Music's Berkley location in Northern California has officially opened a marijuana dispensary called Hi-Fidelity.
